Namastè!
It's dark o'clock. I'm awake. Two words: Wonder Weeks. We are in the thick of Leap 6, while teething.
So. Much. Tired.
This can't be legal.
Alas, here we are! I am appreciative of his growth, even at its most inconvenient. A little gratitude makes even the toughest days a lot more bearable.
I have a huge baby gear expo coming up. I have been demoing, testing, and tracking trends on some of the coolest, most innovative, most useful baby/kid items on the radar. Car seats, strollers, infant tubs, learning toys, feeding gadgets--if it is available on the market, I have taken a long gander at it, even bringing some home.
Personally, one of the toughest decisions I made about Baby Namastè's gear was his diaper bag. When he was tiny I wanted something upscale and chic. (Petunia Pickle Bottom, Coach, and Dooney & Bourke were my picks--three colors, For some variety.) We travel often, and The Big Apple is a constant destination, so there was no way I could be in one of the style capitals of the world without a great bag, one that wouldn't show dirt or wear out too quickly. Fancy bags ain't practical by far but they do tend to last.
Enter, my favorite baby gift: a little normal diaper bag, with baby elephants embroidered on it. Cool-girl be damned, I felt in love with that bag on sight. Into the closet went the fancies because the only thing I love more than my cool-girl, is elephants. I go gaga for them and the vast majority of my decor incorporates them. (Note: I still use the baby elephants bag, and likely will long after the baby has need for it.) That bag has been perfect, other than being fairly light colored.
Yesterday I was running around and kinda wished I had a backpack style bag. I didn't have any prereqs for it--I just wanted it to be black or gray. I didn't care whose name was on it, I just needed a bag that wouldn't get dirty and had lots of pockets.
Enter, Graco Diaper bag and organizer. This bag is a real game changer!
It has separate, zippered pockets for toiletries and incidentals. It even came with a wipe case, which is designed for easy access. Press a tab and the top pops, and there's no need to remove the case--take the wipes through an opening in the pocket.
There is what I call an electronics pocket as well, with an opening to feed your earbuds through--no more dropped phones. (I also store my tablet there.)
The insulated pocket on the side is more perfect than I dared dream, and will hold two 6 ounce bags of milk. It is a long pocket so I stick a frozen pack in the bottom for extra cooling, to make sure his milkies stay cold.
I've been using the bag for a whole 24 hours now and the most important thing--longevity. It will take us from this stage to toddlerhood regardless of which character has Baby Namastè's attention at the moment. The bag is neither feminine nor masculine. Mom or Dad (or Uncle or aunt!) can use this bag for a baby boy OR a baby girl!
It's Baby Namastè approved.
I got ours in Walmart, for around 30 bucks. I didn't even know Graco made bags. I initially wasn't looking at the name, only the features. (If you have a Pack n'Play, the wipes container will be a dead giveaway because Graco is famous for that push button deal!) I'm completely sold so far.
Namastè!
